A Fine fan from the South of China, in a custom fitted fan box, appraised some years ago (1989) by the Master Artist Fua Hua who decided that the polished wood monture was created over 100 years ago by the famous stick cutter CHU, Que, San, the leaf being 100 years later . The recto calligraphy is a poem by the artist describing a hermit (depicted) at peace in tranquil surroundings. The verso gives some of the doctrine and philosophy of Buddhist principles. The fan is dedicated to Lu Shia, a friend of the artist and created during the summer months by a Buddhist monk. The guards are adorned with calligraphy guard approx. 32 cm.
Accompanied by a research document detailing the prowess and creations of Fu Hua. This fan was featured in the Bulletin, the magazine of the Fan Circle International, issued in October 2023. (Shipping category C)
